Last session our school and nursery achieved fifth green flag status, or “Sustainable School Status” . The school and nursery community received a glowing report from the Eco Assessor, Mrs Black, with some recommendations which we will work on this session.
The children gain so much in terms of knowledge and skills for learning, life and work throughout their Eco learning and participation. The Primary Eco Citizenship group is led by Miss Delaney, our Principal Teacher and the Nursery Eco Committee is led by Mrs Robertson, one of our Acting Senior Nursery Officers.
Each new session, children from each class vote to choose their citizenship group for that year. Each class has 2 or 3 representatives in each group. The Eco Committee meet to discuss environmental issues each month and report back to the whole school during assembly time.
Our Rainbow Garden is a fairly new addition to our Eco portfolio. It has a water fountain, decking area, attractive seating and a range of trees, plants or flowers grow in special tubs and border areas around the garden. It is a very special place where children and staff can take time out to enjoy the beauty of our world in a safe and peaceful environment.
If you are interested in our Eco work, or would like to help out in any way (e.g. by sharing your expertise), please contact Miss Delaney or Mrs Robertson. We would be delighted to hear from you!
